I spent 36 years in one industry. I drove a route, I owned a distributorship, and I spent twenty years coaching the people who did both.
When that ended, somebody asked me what I was good at. And I couldn't answer. Thirty-six years, and I couldn't name it.
It wasn't that I had nothing. It was that I'd done it so long, I'd stopped seeing it.
What finally helped me was simple: somebody asked me question after question until it all started coming back. That's what we're going to do right now.
Three quick questions. Short answers are fine. Then an AI is going to read your list and ask you "what else?" It's surprisingly good at that.
You're going to be surprised how much is there. Let's go.
What problems kept landing on your desk?
One per line. Aim for at least three.
Give me a nudge
The customer nobody else could calm down. The report that only you knew how to fix. The new person everyone sent your way. The mess that showed up every Monday.
What do you know now that took you years to learn?
One per line.
Give me a nudge
How to read a customer before they say a word. When to push and when to wait. Which promise you can’t make. What a bad week looks like before it gets bad.
Who did you help, and what changed for them?
One per line.
Give me a nudge
A person you trained who’s doing well now. A customer you kept. A team that ran better after you got involved. Someone you talked out of a bad decision.
What else?
AI stand-in · Prepared prompts using your own words; no live AI.
Your list
You can leave this blank and skip.
Look at what you just wrote.
Most people don’t run out of things to write. They run out of time. Every item on that list is something somebody counted on you for.
Pick one to look at more closely.
In the next section we’ll take that one and look at what you really did, the part that’s easy to forget because you did it so well.
Your answer to “What are you good at?”

Remember what I told you at the start? Somebody asked me what I was good at, and I couldn't answer.
You're about to have an answer. Not a résumé line. The real one, in your words, with the proof behind it.
You'll write it first. Then the AI is going to tighten it up and tell you what you left out. Then you fix it until it sounds like you.
Read it out loud at the end. If it sounds like something you'd say across a table, you're done.
Who's asking you?
Pick the person you'd most want to have an answer for.
Your answer, first try.
Give me a nudge
Start with what you do, then say how you know. “I'm the person who… I know that because…”
What the AI suggests
AI stand-in · Local trimming and quoted evidence, not live AI. Tone matching is a stand-in.
Yours is on the left. The AI's is on the right. Neither one is the answer yet. The answer is the one you fix.
Your first try
Tightened, in your words
What you left out
Make it yours.
Give me a nudge
If a word feels like something off a résumé, swap it for the word you'd actually use.
Read it out loud.
Here's what you built.
What you remembered
What you really did
Your answer to “What are you good at?”
Now you have an answer, built from what you remembered and corrected.
Want me to take a look?
The AI found some of it. It always misses something. If you'd like, I'll read what you wrote myself and send you a short note on what I see.
No sales call. Just a second set of eyes from someone who's been there.

You picked one. Good. Now let’s look at what you actually did, because the part you did best is usually the part you don’t mention. The AI’s going to ask you a hard question about it. Answer it straight. And if it gets you wrong, tell it.
Think of a time someone needed you.
Pick one real time. Something had gone wrong, somebody was stuck, or you saw a problem coming before anyone else did.
Start with the item you starred. Add the story below.
Write it the way you'd tell it across a table. Three or four sentences is plenty.
Give me a nudge
Think about the calls that weren't in your job description. The customer nobody else could settle down. The new person everybody sent to you. The thing that always seemed to land on your desk.
A question about your example
Give me a nudge
Go back to the moment it turned. What did you say or do right then?
What the AI found
Stand-in cards for you to review. These are not live AI findings.
Is that right?
The AI only knows what you typed. You know the whole story. If it got you wrong, say so. That's the point.
Here's what you remembered.
The situation
What you did
The ability
You did that. It counted then, and it still counts. In the next section we’ll amplify with AI.
